It is a well known fact that London is one of the richest cities in the world in one of the richest countries in the world. It has truly left it’s mark on global history having influenced world events for a millennium. It can also be said to have created numerous empires. At one stage the British Empire was the biggest, stretching all corners of the globe, but the finance and insurance markets of London also created huge domains. There are also big fashion, tech, media and space industries operating from here, not to mention that it has become a playground of the global rich.

A recent audit performed for property development giants, Berkeley Homes Group, gave us the chance to share some of our research and knowledge on this matter.
It has to be said, Berkeley Homes have the knack of finding top calibre locations for development in London. Having worked with this FTSE100 listed property developer on several of their recent Greater London developments including the Fitzroy Gate in Richmond and Asquith House in Edgeware, we noted that they’re able to take on developments that need great skill to regenerate the area. South Quay Plaza, or SQP, in London’s Docklands is no exception.
As the heart of London’s financial district, the area has buildings that an average property developer just couldn’t deliver. It is one thing to take a property and give it a loft extension and a new kitchen to create value, but it is very specialist skillset needed to create the 8th tallest building in London. At 68 floors high, South Quay Plaza’s Valiant Tower is also one of the tallest residential buildings in Europe.
Facing the glittering headquarter offices of some of the world’s leading financial institutions across the docks in Canary Wharf, South Quay Plaza offers those in the finance industry the perfect location, cutting out the commute. Whether one loves or hates modern architecture, there is no denying it is an exceptional feat of engineering to build something which can stand safely at such height. Naturally, it also follows that in addition to requiring an exceptional skillset to design and build such a creation, it also requires an exceptional Feng Shui consultant to be able to audit it properly. An average Feng Shui practitioner can audit a flat but few can tell whether a 68 storey apartment block is going to have factors of success and prosperity built into it’s design.
By far the most important consideration when choosing a new home is not the furnishings or interior at all. The most important question is whether the area we are choosing to base our life upon is going to thrive in the years ahead.
The next most important factor is whether the building we’ll be living in has signs that it will be prosperous for some time ahead, ideally 20 or more years.

A beautiful interior in a place where tumbleweeds blow through the high street may give you comfort in your personal life, but your financial life would likely become damaged by such a place. Ideally we want both internal comfort and prosperous surrounds bringing wealth to us.
