The King’s Coronation Date

Bloomberg claimed on October 5th 2022 that an anonymous UK official said the coronation would be next June and most likely on the third. If King Charles is crowned on this date, it will be almost 70 years to the day after his late mother’s coronation. If this date was to be used, how would it bode for Charles and how would it compare the date used for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth all those decades earlier?

Ze ri, or date selection, is a powerful aspect of Taoist thinking. Like the old blues singer’s saying “born under a bad star” implies, it recognises that the moment we start something imbues it with a certain energy. If a King’s reign – or a person’s marriage, or a new business launch, or the day you move into a new home – is auspicious, then that energy will be stamped upon it for the duration of it. But if it was “born under a bad star”, whatever endeavour it is may be plagued with mishaps, calamities and setbacks.

Here we see a wonderful harmonious formation – the monkey is the correct and proper partner of the snake which occurs in both the year and month. This shows everything coming together to make a United Kingdom, both those with power and the ordinary man. History has shown this to be true. Her Majesty was incredibly well loved by and large as the huge turnout for her funeral showed.

In Charles’ rumoured date, we see that this falls on a dragon day, but in a rabbit year. This is unfortunate as it suggests that backstabbers, petty people and anti-monarchists will make their presence well-known. There is a sentimental formation in the heavenly stems of this chart which suggests there would be some superficial warm feelings, but because this isn’t matched with harmony in the earthly branches, such feelings would be more for show.

The bigger problem still is that within this date there is a strong suggestion of a further coronation coming soon. This would be an ill omen, since we would like the King to have a healthy reign, to be well loved by his people, upright in his duties and with sufficient time to make his mark on history. If there were to be another coronation coming, it would mean that he had exited the position prematurely, whether due to ill health, accident or abdication. Any of these would seem a sad ending.

The 3rd of June 2023 is not a great day for major activities and few are as major in the life of a monarch as their coronation date. If you are a private individual, we would advise against being married on this day as it also would suggest that you’ll be getting married again in the future – not something we’d like as an omen for a once in a lifetime big day.
