Blessing Ceremonies

Chinese Feng Shui Blessing Ceremonies

Blessing rituals, also known as blessing ceremonies, are one of the fastest and easiest ways to put in auspicious positive and good luck energies into a building and the grounds of the building. Blessing rituals and blessing ceremonies are one of the most popular requests from businesses and corporations including restaurants, hotels, offices, retail shops, shopping malls and property developments.

Some businesses have this done regularly to continually have their energies refreshed and auspicious positive vibes brought into their business premises.

Positive vibes = better business.

Many clients report improved vibes throughout their building after we have performed blessing rituals. All around the world, Rising Dragon Feng Shui have been blessing buildings using traditional techniques and creating positive energies.

Blessing rituals are performed by Master Angela or Master Charlotte to invoke deities to come bless a space. Prayers are also made to the Earth Deities 地主 of the space. It can be any space from a room to a large property development. When the building and the grounds have been blessed, everything is better. A building can also be cleansed. This also increases its capacity to obtain more auspiciousness and positive vibes. By performing a blessing ritual and or cleansing, the energy of building is renewed, refreshed, rejuvenated. The old energies are cleansed and erased and everything is new again and blessed with positive new energy.

When Are Chinese Feng Shui Blessing Ceremonies Used?

There are a number of times this is most common, and one can use one or more of these:

  1. The groundbreaking ceremony – first digging of the ground or taking down of an old building (to build a new house/building/development)

  2. Laying the main beam in the building

  3. Official opening ceremony, new product/service launches, and  relaunches/rebranding/reopenings

  4. Chinese New Year & other festivities like Zhongyuan Mid-year festival, Summer Solstice, Western New Year, Double Nine Festival, company anniversaries and so on

  5. Anytime the building or area wants a boost of positive energy, good vibes and blessings

  6. Anytime To cleanse bad events that may have happened there. ie. accidents or injuries that happened at the building site. Repair and heal that space and energy that has been hurt. Ie. bombing

  7. Anytime rejuvenation of a building is wanted.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony

At the beginning of building, we often perform the Feng Shui “groundbreaking ceremony “. It is called groundbreaking because it is about the very first digging into the ground of building works, and it actually means blessing the entire grounds upon which the property stands.

This is designed to make everything flow auspiciously through the building process. It is all too common that builders face challenges during work such as project delays, material defects or shortages, staff problems or worst terrible injuries. Some building projects seem jinxed. The “groundbreaking ceremony “ is designed to minimise these so costs are decreased and things are smoother.

This type of Feng Shui blessing ceremony takes place prior to the builders getting started on digging in the foundations, but it doesn’t need to be the same day as they start, nor does it necessarily mean that extensive digging has to occur on the same day as the ceremony. It can be done anytime before starting or even within an hour of it starting as is commonly done and then video/broadcasted.

For example, if the most auspicious time to commence falls on a weekend, we might carry out the blessing then, but the builders, who normally just work Monday to Friday, can come in and get started once the week begins. We will have made blessings into the grounds to allow the strong heavenly qi of the good day to be absorbed into it. This is also a newsworthy event good for marketing purposes.

Laying The Main Beam Blessing Ceremony

Laying the main beam of the roof is considered a milestone moment. The outer walls are already up and as the first part of the roof to go in, it starts to seal the Qi into the building. This is much like putting a lid over a saucepan causes the vapours to start to condense. Once the roof is on, the Qi of the building is limited in its connection to the sky above and becomes a concentrated dose of the Qi of the earth below.

This beam is then placed at a specific time on a specific day when vibrant Qi is abundant. This Qi will then permeate the building thereafter.

This ceremony is usually conducted immediately before the crane hoists in the main beam. The date selection for the beam to be installed is determined in advance based upon a specialised Chinese calendar.

Blessing Ceremonies For Official Openings, Reopenings & Relaunches

There is another Feng Shui blessing ceremony which is designed for official openings. Again, the open date will set a certain energy or feeling for the place, and that infuses that into everything that comes afterward.

Master Ang opened the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Barcelona

It should be understood that the official opening is not necessarily the same as the public opening. It can be, but it can also be a different time prior to the public opening.

An example of a big official opening we performed was when Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group opened their Barcelona hotel and spa. The ritual was coordinated as part of the launch day which included a Western style ribbon cutting ceremony and a champagne VIP celebrity reception, all with press and media coverage.

Due to their Asian heritage, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group are very proud of their stance towards cultural values and specifically chose a highly respected Chinese Feng Shui master Angela Ang to bless their openings in front of the press.

For a reopening or relaunch, the ceremony is to stamp the new energy onto proceedings, thus firming up the feel of “a new chapter”.

Blessing Ceremonies For Chinese New Year & Other Festivities

At the David Wilson Homes Ashridge Grange blessing ceremonies we did, this type of blessing was used combining the Chinese New Year and the opening of the development into one big blessing. It was so popular that the second year we did it, Master Charlotte stayed behind to provide an afternoon of fortune telling for attendees. The events were popular with both the locals and local press and the property development sold out.

Other festivities can be used such as Western New Year, Vesak Day, Summer Solstice, Zhongyuan Midyear Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Double Nine Festival.

These occasions naturally lend themselves to getting people together and to PR, so they’re great for creating a story and for getting key people involved like local councillors and residents.

Blessings Designed To Support You Anytime & Everytime

From this you can see that at any stage of development there is an appropriate ceremony, which gives you lots of flexibility as to how you want to work one in. Our service offering is designed to support you picking your good fortune rather than be a rigid cultural dogma. They maintain the values of the authentic tradition whilst being flexible to fit the needs of today.

From a logistical and marketing point of view, it is easier to do them early on because the public aren’t involved and you can use the message for PR throughout the development’s sales cycle.

From the point of view of generating local interest, openings, Chinese New Year’s and other celebrations can bring the mayor and other local dignitaries together with residents and would-be residents. This could still be done whilst a building site, but you might need a bit more planning due to H&S requirements.

In all cases, we can support you including working with press and media, photographers, social media and blog posts. We can help make an eye-catching PR piece for you as well as providing an authentic Feng Shui service.

Let us know what stage you’re expecting the development to be in, when you want to run the PR and we can give guidance on the appropriate types of ceremonies for it, as well as what to and not to do in order to avoid any cultural faux-pas. Together we can design a service that works perfectly for all.
