Ajit Jain is a man of many changes. From engineering in the Middle East through to running a profitable convenience store, he's tried his hand at several enterprises and on the whole, he's been lucky. He's got a caring wife and three lively daughters and as a Hindu, he enjoys a healthy life with a vegetarian diet. When his business partner retired, he decided that this was his opportunity to get away from being tied to work. He sold up his share and bought a new home in Burnham near Slough in Berkshire, and looked to start a new business so he could spend more time with his family. What had been the impact of the new Feng Shui on him and his business?

"Like so many of us in London and the South, I found myself tied to my work" began Ajit. "Although business was good, it took all my time and often left me wishing that I could get something more from life. To me, money can never be a substitute for the pleasure you get from having your family around you. Those memories are the kind of wealth you look back on when you get older and enjoy all the more."

Ajit's story is one that is common to many people living in the fast paced hectic world of business today. In our opinion, it is not just important to be able to look after oneself financially, it is essential. However, we must never allow ourselves to loose sight of why we wanted the money in the first place. We simply want the quality of life, or the values that we believe having it will bring or enable us to explore. Working harder and harder to get the money often results in frustration when our desires are unfulfilled and this is why it is important to know that one's Feng Shui will not cause issues in our career, business or finances. As Grand Master Sheng-yen Lu says:

If one wants to know the past karmic cause,
Just observe what one has to receive in this life;
If one wants to know the future fruit,
Just look at the actions in this life.

How many people can really understand the meaning of wealth? How much money does it take to be regarded as wealthy? Is it when one dresses well? Is it when one has loads of treasures? Is wealth measured by brand named cars and huge houses? Does wealth mean living a lifestyle in leisure?

Eyes or ears cannot perceive wealth. It often disturbs one's soul and one cannot hold onto wealth forever.

I think wealth should constitute the following:

• Health
• Time
• Morals
• Wisdom

These are regarded as real wealth!

"Not wanting to continue spending my every waking moment working," continued Ajit, "I decided to get into the import business after I moved here. In India I have family contacts in the manufacturing industry. They make a great many things, from beautiful metal home wares like vases and bowls, through to hand tools, car and bicycle parts. The quality of the work is fantastic and similar items can be seen in many high street stores at a high price. I was, and still am, convinced that there is a huge market for such goods in the UK given the right outlet. My problem was that after getting the goods, I was unable to find a suitable taker here in the UK. In fact I'm still looking, but I've bought into the Lasertech franchise to sell printer consumables to cover my immediate need for finance".

Ajit is certainly not alone in having moved to a new house, only to find that inexplicably, he's been struck with financial difficulties. However, Ajit does have the good luck, common sense and strength of character to get the problem looked into before it causes too much difficulty. His caring wife, Asha, first called us in to analyse the Feng Shui of his new home. We wanted to see if we could reverse the problems they were having, where money was just gushing out from them, with little coming in to recompense.
